[freɪn], Michael, englischer Schriftsteller und Journalist, * London 8. 11. 1933; schrieb satirische Kolumnen für die Zeitungen »The Manchester Guardian« und »The Observer«. Satire und Fantasie bestimmen auch seine Romane, denen komödienhafte Fernsehspiele und Bühnenstücke folgten.
 
Werke: Romane: The tin men (1965; deutsch Blechkumpel); The Russian interpreter (1966; deutsch Zwei Briten in Moskau); Towards the end of the morning (1967); A very private life (1968); A landing on the sun (1991; deutsch Sonnenlandung); Now you know (1992; deutsch Jetzt weißt du's); Headlong (1999; deutsch Das verschollene Bild).
